Our affiliation with Shopify was unclear to merchants, leading to trust issues. Additionally, many brand visuals overshadowed the merchants' product photography, which we wanted to spotlight. This presented a significant opportunity to strengthen the connection between Shopify and Handshake by adopting a cohesive look and feel that reflects the brand. It involves communicating the benefits of being a trusted and experienced commerce platform.
I led the full project, which included a new set of colors, logo adjustments, and art direction integrated into a new set of brand guidelines. For this, I sourced support from an external agency to explore and test the new assets. I worked closely with a content designer on a new plug-and-play system that features a new logo tag, tagline, and trust statement, all related to the Handshake/Shopify connection.
Once I set the new guidelines for the brand, I led the full rollout plan for the implementation of the new brand across all Handshake touchpoints, including product, emails, landing pages, social media, marketing, etc., to ensure a smooth transition. As part of this effort, I took charge of a new homepage redesign, collaborating closely with the product team, where I served as the lead designer.
